The farm was purchased in 1948 by Takashi "Joe" Masumoto after the family returned to California following their unjust incarceration during World War II — and has been growing exceptional stone fruit ever since. The Flavor Crest is a descendant of the Gold Dust peach — a lineage that shows up in the fruit's rich, full flavor. Juicy, fragrant, and deeply sweet with the kind of texture that means you'll want a napkin nearby. Stone fruit season is short — enjoy them while they last.
This half flat is approximately 5 lbs, with an average of 10–12 peaches. Because these are harvested to order and ripened naturally on the tree, peach size varies week to week — expect anywhere from 7 to 16 peaches per half flat.
For the best eating experience, leave them on the counter for 1–2 days to finish ripening. Because fully ripe Flavor Crests bruise very easily, they must be harvested just before peak ripeness—a delicate balance that rewards a little patience.
