When farms thrive, we thrive
You can taste the difference good farming makes
We're connecting the Bay Area to exceptional local farmers who steward the land with care — and delivering their produce at the moment it tastes best.
It’s not just a mission—it’s the logic behind everything we do.
Rootstock isn't just a delivery service. We pay farmers fairly, support ecologically sound growing practices, and invest in the long-term health of local food systems. Because great food and good farming aren't separate things.
Why local food makes better sense
The best farmers we know grow for flavor by caring for the soil. They're also running a business. But industrial supply chains squeeze farmers and reward yield and durability over taste and ethical practices.
We do the opposite. We pay fair prices directly to growers so they can do what they do best: grow food the right way. We’re talking healthy soil, stronger biodiversity, and more resilient local economies.
Food as a force for change
When you eat a strawberry bursting with flavor picked two days ago by a farmer you can name, whose farm you can drive to from your house, something shifts. You expect more from your food. You take pride in where you live. And you value what it took to get to you.
Rootstock is building a community around that shift.
This is food worth getting curious about. Join us for local food, events, stories, and genuine connection.

Founder Story
Julia has always had a knack for finding the best strawberries—starting with wild ones discovered on mountain hikes as a kid. Those early experiences of paying careful attention to place, plants, and flavor have shaped her career ever since.
Before Rootstock, Julia advised climate and nature startups, led global teams at Google, and worked across strategy, operations, and supply chains. Rootstock brings all that experience together to build food systems that work for farmers, eaters, and the land.
She’s always excited to connect with people ready to make a difference. Drop her line at
