Murray Family Farms
White Kadota Figs (open pint)
$8
Unit price perThe White Kadota is one of California's most storied fig varieties — pale green to lemon-yellow skinned, with amber flesh, very few seeds, and an intensely sweet, honey-like flavor. Milder and less jammy than dark fig varieties, with a smooth, creamy texture that makes them exceptional for fresh eating. Fragile and fleeting — eat within a day or two. Comes in an open pint.
Murray Family Farms is a four-generation family farm outside Bakersfield, started in 1983 with beekeeping, then table grapes, then cherries — beginning as a roadside tent on Highway 58. Steven Murray Jr. joined the California Rare Fruit Growers at age 10 and has since traveled to 125 countries sourcing rare fruit, picking up six languages along the way. The farm operates 52 certified organic acres and runs an education program at the Big Red Barn that hosts roughly 40,000 kids a year.
